BRICS

Meeting of BRICS Working Group on ICT cooperation and BRICS Institute of Future Networks (BIFN) Council took place virtually on May 26nd， 2022. Chaired by the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the Meeting was attended by representatives from line ministries and research institutions from BRICS countries.

The second Council meeting of BIFN was held online. During the meeting, BIFN further improve its goal, scope of work and structure.

The first Council meeting of BIFN was held in Brasilia, during which discussed BIFN’s scope of responsibility and work plan.

During the G20 summit in Osaka, Japan, BRICS leaders agreed on the importance of continuing BRICS cooperation in science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, including practical cooperation projects such as the BRICS institute for future networks.

The fourth BRICS Communication Ministers Meeting was held in Durban, South Africa.

In the meeting, the establishment of the BRICS Institute of Future Networks was officially approved, and the building of a BIFN based on council mechanism was encouraged and supported.

The third BRICS Communication Ministers Meeting was held in Hangzhou, China. 

 India and China jointly led a focus group with relevant stakeholders to study and formulate the building plan of BRICS Institute of Future Networks.

The second BRICS Communication Ministers Meeting was held in Bangalore, India.

The ICT Development Agenda and Action Plan of BRICS countries was released, putting forward the concept of BRICS Institute of Future Networks.
