In strict adherence to the predetermined itinerary, on December 1, 2023, delegation consisting of participants from the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Technology and Governance Excellence Class, an initiative organized by the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Base and executed in cooperation with Xiamen University and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, undertook a research and exchange mission to the China Branch of BRICS Institute of Future Networks (hereinafter referred to as BIFNC) in Shenzhen, China. The composition of the 23 participants in this training program is primarily characterized by individuals holding prominent positions within the communication administrations and high-ranking executives representing industry-leading enterprises of developing countries, including Russia, Iran, Egypt, and Thailand. Chen Hui, president of BIFNC, along with key personnel from the General Management Department, International Cooperation Department, and Business Development Department, extended a formal reception to facilitate discussions and exchanges with the distinguished guests representing various nations.
During the course, the delegation conducted a comprehensive tour of the promotional exhibition hall of BIFNC. Within this facility, docents of BIFNC provided the esteemed guests with an informative presentation on the institute's historical background, its defined mission and role, as well as a detailed overview of its accomplishments in the realms of international cooperation and research innovation since its establishment. Furthermore, the docents of BIFNC extended a formal invitation to the visiting dignitaries from diverse nations, urging collective efforts towards advancing international exchange and collaboration in the sphere of information and communication.
Following the guided tour, a roundtable discussion and exchange session convened, during which President Chen delivered a keynote address titled "Advancing Information Accessibility: Empowering the Elderly and the Disabled to Overcome the Digital Divide." In his presentation, President Chen provided an overview of China's latest accomplishments in the domains of digital inclusivity and information accessibility in recent years. His presentation garnered a warm reception from the international attendees, who subsequently engaged in a substantive question-and-answer session, addressing inquiries and facilitating discussions on various facets of technology, policies, and advancements within the realm of information and communication.
