1. In accordance with Paragraph 22 of the Declaration of the 7th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting, “We note with appreciation the deliberations in the 3rd Council meeting of BIFN, and urge for early adoption by BRICS members of the Work Plan of BIFN and reiterate our full support to the actions to be undertaken by the BIFN Council, in order to promote cooperation on research and innovation in emerging and new technologies and network”, the BIFN will promote cooperation in areas such as:
I. Studies in the area of AI. In accordance with paragraph 20 of the Declaration of the 6th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting and paragraphs 9 and 18 of the Declaration of the 7th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting, a BIFN’ study group on AI will be established, focusing on key technologies, algorithms, standards and application scenarios in the field of AI.
II. Studies in the area of next generation communications. In accordance with paragraph 11 of the Declaration of the 5th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting and paragraph 22 of the Declaration of the 7th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting on supporting cooperation in research and innovation in emerging technologies and networks, a BIFN’ study group on next generation communications will be established, focusing on key technologies, standards and application scenarios in the field of next generation communications.
III. Studies in the area of Internet application in Industry 4.0. In accordance with paragraph 11 of the Declaration of the 5th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting and paragraph 22 of the Declaration of the 7th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting on supporting cooperation in research and innovation in emerging technologies and networks, a BIFN’ study group on industrial use of Internet will be established, focusing on industrial use of Internet networks, industrial software and applications, industrial Internet platforms, industrial automation and edge computing, and intelligent equipment.
IV. Studies in the area of electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. In accordance with the requirements of paragraphs 21 and 22 of the Declaration of the 6th BRICS Communications Ministers’ Meeting on including the study on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure into the BIFN Work Plan, a BIFN’ study group on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure will be established, focusing on electromagnetic radiation caused by wireless mobile networks.
The BIFN will establish appropriate mechanisms to exchange experiences and results from research, and on a voluntary basis, conduct joint research and publish results of joint research in forms of reports and bulletins, etc., and participate in international organizations agreed to among the parties, to carry out collaborations. The timeline for the tasks and the deliverables shall be agreed to among the parties.
2. On a voluntary basis, co-organizing BRICS Forum on Future Networks Innovation, workshops, enterprises cooperation events and other activities, to carry out exchanges of experts and promote cooperation among BRICS countries in the field of future networks.
3. Planning and launching the official website to provide an online platform for the BIFN operation, having linkages to the main website of BRICS.
